Speckled Trout Fishing in Southwest Florida

Speckled trout — also called spotted seatrout — are one of the most sought-after inshore species in Southwest Florida. They're found year-round on the grass flats, mangrove edges, and shallow backwaters of Charlotte Harbor, Lemon Bay, and Pine Island Sound.

Known for their aggressive strikes on topwater lures at dawn, speckled trout are a favorite among light-tackle anglers. They're also excellent table fare, making them one of the most rewarding species to target on a half-day or full-day inshore charter.

Fall and winter bring the biggest trout of the year to Southwest Florida's shallow flats. Captain Matt knows exactly where to find them — from the deep grass edges of Charlotte Harbor to the protected backwaters of Lemon Bay.
