Fish the pristine waters of Placida Harbor, Gasparilla Sound, and the flats surrounding Gasparilla Island with Captain Matt — your local expert with 10+ years on these waters.
Placida sits at the northern gateway to Gasparilla Island, giving anglers direct access to some of the most productive inshore fishing in Southwest Florida. Placida Harbor and Gasparilla Sound are sheltered, shallow-water systems teeming with snook, redfish, and spotted seatrout year-round.
Just minutes from the boat ramp, you're on the flats — sight-fishing tailing redfish, working mangrove edges for snook, or drifting the grass beds for trout. And when tarpon season arrives (April–July), Boca Grande Pass is a short run away, putting you in the heart of the world's best tarpon fishery.
Captain Matt has fished Placida's waters since childhood. He knows every flat, every channel edge, and every tide-dependent honey hole that makes this area so special.

Year-Round
Tailing and cruising redfish are a staple of the Placida flats. Schools of bull reds also congregate in the area during fall for explosive topwater action.
April – July
Boca Grande Pass is a short run from Placida. During tarpon season, Captain Matt runs clients to the Pass to target giant Silver Kings averaging 80–150 lbs.
Fall – Spring
The grass flats of Gasparilla Sound and Lemon Bay produce excellent trout fishing, especially in cooler months when fish stack up on deeper grass edges.
Every Placida charter runs on Captain Matt's custom 23 ft Hanson flats boat — purpose-built for the shallow waters of Southwest Florida. With a 2026 Suzuki 175, Power-Poles, Minn Kota trolling motor, 50-gallon livewell, and full Garmin electronics, you'll have every advantage on the water.
All trips include rods, reels, tackle, bait, and fishing license. Just bring sunscreen, snacks, and a cooler.
