What is the best time of year to fish near Placida?

Snook and redfish are excellent year-round. Tarpon season (April–July) is the peak time for big game fishing. Fall (October–December) is outstanding for redfish and trout.

How many people can fish on the charter?

The 23 ft Hanson comfortably accommodates up to 4 anglers. For the best experience we recommend 2–3 anglers.

Do I need a fishing license?

No — your fishing license is included with every charter. Just show up ready to fish.

Snook

Year-Round

Placida's mangrove shorelines and dock pilings hold trophy snook all year. Spring and fall are prime, with fish pushing 30+ inches on the shallow flats.

Redfish

Year-Round

Tailing and cruising redfish are a staple of the Placida flats. Schools of bull reds also congregate in the area during fall for explosive topwater action.

Tarpon

April – July

Boca Grande Pass is a short run from Placida. During tarpon season, Captain Matt runs clients to the Pass to target giant Silver Kings averaging 80–150 lbs.

Fall – Spring

The grass flats of Gasparilla Sound and Lemon Bay produce excellent trout fishing, especially in cooler months when fish stack up on deeper grass edges.
